BASKET BALL

Basket Ball also referred to as ‘hoops’ is a sport that engages students in enhancing team spirit and learning the importance of coordination through teamwork. SFS promotes the sport with great enthusiasm through the annual basketball Inter-School competition “SFS Challengers Basketball tournament.”

KARATE

Karate as a form of Japanese martial art focuses on the development of defensive and counterattacking body movements. SFS promotes the art of in-building self-defense amongst the students, improving their mental and moral aspects, targeting the overall improvement of students.

TAEKWONDO

Taekwondo as a form of Korean martial art focuses on the theory of power incorporating speed and agility. SFS promotes the art for improving the capacity of students to refine themselves and introduced this sport into its curriculum for the students.

VOLLEY BALL

Volleyball as a sport engages students in improving coordination and balance altogether. SFS promotes the sport focusing on improving the strength of the physical body and enhancing agility in students.

TABLE TENNIS

Table Tennis is also known as ‘ping pong’ as a sport that focuses on effective mind and body stimulation. SFS promotes the sport to engage students in the development of social interaction and physical benefits promoting all-around development.

FINE ARTS

Fine Arts provide non-academic benefits for improving self-esteem, motivation, creativity, and awareness for the learners. SFS promotes various elements of fine arts including painting, poetry, and other performing arts focusing on providing cultural exposure and awareness on diversity in society amongst students.

QUIZ

The quiz is a mind sport that improves learning by enhancing reading capacity and active listening. SFS focuses on the game for helping students widen the span of knowledge, with regular learning of new things and practice rounds.

DEBATE

Debate engulfs engaging in a formal argument and discussion through which opinions are expressed by individuals. SFS organizes regular events and competitions for Debate that focus on improving the critical thinking of students, widening their span of knowledge.

WESTERN DANCE

Western dance also referred to as ‘country dance’ encompasses many dance forms and styles, associated with western traditions. SFS promotes the dance forms to encourage students in incorporating knowledge from different traditions and cultures, promoting respect and love.

BHARATANATYAM

Bharatnatyam is one of the oldest classical dance forms in India that originated in Tamil Nadu. The dance form is great for improving bone density and is a good form of exercise too. SFS promotes the form by focusing to inculcate in children’s knowledge on the roots of Indian culture and stay connected with traditions, through the dance form.

BULBUL & CUBS

Bulbul and Cubs is a voluntary, non-political and educational movement for young people. The movement is initiated by SFS with the motto “Do your best” for the students of classes III to IV to instill unity and the importance of service for all.

SCOUTS & GUIDES

The Bharat Scouts and Guides is a voluntary, non-political, educational movement for young people, open to all without distinction of caste, creed, or race. The movement is laid in context to the principles and methods laid by the founder Lord Baden Powell. SFS with the motto “Do your best” strongly upholds the movement to instill unity, cooperation, and discipline amongst the students.

NCC

National Cadet Corps (NCC) is the Indian military cadet corps with its headquarters in New Delhi. It is open to students voluntarily where cadets are recruited from schools and colleges all over India. Cadets are given basic military training in small arms and parades. SFS promotes the movement with the motto “Unity and Discipline” encouraging students for promoting all-around development.

VIOLIN

Violin is also known as “fiddle” is a wooden instrument in the violin family and is the smallest and highest-pitched instrument in the family. SFS incorporated violin classes for students who are intrigued to learn the instrument, with a focus on improving memory, attention span, and sensory development amongst students.

TABLA

Tabla is an instrument of Indian origin belonging to the drum-percussion family. It is a widely used instrument in North India. SFS promotes opportunities for students to learn the instrument through classes provided on the school premises.

GUITAR

The Guitar is a fretted musical instrument that originated in Spain. The instrument has three different forms in the guitar family. SFS provides exposure to the students to learn the instrument through guitar classes by trained professionals.

VOCAL MUSIC

Vocal music focuses on singing with or without instruments, where singing is the main focus in the performance. With a variety of forms in vocal music including Indian Classical music, SFS provides opportunities to the students to develop their skills and talent in the field of music.

BAND

SFS proudly incorporates a School Band that is the heart of the school providing students exposure to develop and execute their music skills. Over the years SFS band has become one of the best in North East India.

OLYMPAID

Olympiad provides scope to the students to compete with other students on a similar educational level. SFS coordinates various national and international Olympiad talent hunt events for students, promoting their skills in subjects like Mathematics, Science, Computer Technology, and English.

SCIENCE CLUB

Science clubs provide opportunities to engage in activities related to the subject. SFS incorporates a Science club for students that facilitates them to experience practical aspects of learning, experienced in classrooms.

MATHS CLUB

Math’s Club provides opportunities to engage in extra-curricular activities related to the subject. SFS incorporates a Math’s club for the students that engage students in learning Maths beyond the classroom, through the incorporation of activities providing a practical learning experience.

ATL TINKERING LAB

SFS started the Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) in 2019, where professionals are outsourced, and provision is initiated for robotic pieces of equipment as well. It helps the students to develop 21st-century skills such as adaptive learning, computational thinking, physical computing, and rapid calculations, among many others.

SATTRIYA NITYA

Sattriya is a major dance form of Indian Classical dance incorporating a dance-drama performance that is centered on the origin of Lord Krishna and Vaishnavism monasteries of Assam. The dance form is incorporated by SFS as a part of the dance classes organized for students.

KATHAK NITYA

Kathak is one of the major dance forms of Indian classical dance, originated in three distinct forms called ‘gharanas’ in the cities of Jaipur, Banaras and Lucknow. SFS incorporates the dance form as a part of the dance classes organized for students.

BIHU DANCE

Bihu is one of the major festivals of Assam that is celebrated three times a year. The traditional dance form associated with the festival is called the ‘Bihu’ dance. SFS incorporates classes for the dance form, for the students as a part of the dance classes.

CHESS

Chess is a board game that is believed to be derived from the Indian game ‘Chaturanga’ before the 7th century. The game focuses on improving memory and focuses on skills and increases self-awareness in the player. SFS incorporates chess as an important part of board games for the students.
